Clause 5.2.2 of DIN EN IEC 61340-5-1 sets four requirements for training: initial training before the first handling of ESDS, recurrent refreshers at defined intervals, records, and a defined method that verifies understanding. The standard does not say how the training is delivered. What matters is the proof – and that is exactly where an online course with a final test is stronger than a signature on an attendance sheet: the test result is a documented, reproducible verification of understanding, per participant, with a date.
Add to that what auditors like: identical content for every participant, a complete record, and certificates that can be verified at any time. Training records must be kept, and your programme plan has to state where.

Yes. After passing the final test each participant receives a certificate of participation with name, date, certificate number and a QR code for verification. The certificate is registered with ESDL and can be checked online at any time.
The standard requires recurrent training at intervals defined in your control programme. Annual repetition has proven itself in practice and is what we recommend – the refresher is also the natural place to cover the changes of the 2025 edition.
